MCC accepting applications for Board of Trustee for District 7 position

McLennan Community College is accepting applications through Jan. 18 for individuals interested in filling the District 7 vacancy on the College’s Board of Trustees.

District 7 includes the following precincts: 51 (partial), 52, 62, 63 (partial), 75, 76, 77, 78 (partial), 79, and 80. View the District's map of precincts.

To hold the office of trustee, one must be a qualified voter, hold residency in the state of Texas for at least 12 months and reside in District 7 for six months before the day on which the appointment is made, serve without compensation, and take the proper oath of office before taking up the duties thereof.

The person appointed to fill the unexpired term by the board of trustees for District 7 will serve until the expiration of the term in May 2025. The position became available following the December resignation of Geneva Watley, who was first appointed to the Board on March 25, 2008.

Applications are available for download on the college’s website at https://www.mclennan.edu/board-of-trustees/index.html and should be returned to the president's office in person or by email to Lindsey Vanek (lvanek@mclennan.edu) no later than Thursday, Jan. 18, by 5 p.m. Interviews with the current board of trustees will take place Feb. 12, and the consideration and appointment of the new member will take place at the Board meeting Feb. 27.
